At our March meeting, the Massage Therapy Board began reviewing draft rules. There are still many issues to resolve, but good progress was made.

Your Connection to News at Tonic | April 2010

Thank You for Your Kind Words!

Thank you to all of you who have submitted reviews for my online scheduler! I am so honored that you have taken the time to send your thoughtful and supportive comments. I am sure visitors will be helped by your views.

As of April 1st, I have temporarily discontinued the online scheduler's request for your comments. But fear not if you would like to let others know how you feel about Tonic, you can send your thoughts to my website, where they will be added to the "What They're Saying" page. I always welcome your comments, whether in person or on my website!

"This Week's Openings"

This month I am starting a new service that I hope will be helpful to all of you. Every Monday morning, starting mid-April, all of you who have seen me at Tonic will receive a brief message noting the openings in my schedule for that week. That way, if you have a last-minute need for a massage — or you're a short notice scheduler — you can know when I can see you in the next several days. As with this newsletter, you will be able to unsubscribe to this service. But I hope that you will keep it — just in case!

Soon I hope to also start Twitter, so you can be even more up-to-date about openings, if you'd like. I already do this informally for some of you. With tweets, I can more easily do it for more of you. I will keep you posted.

Spring Cleaning Special

Now that the weather is warming up, it's time for a little spring cleaning! Time to knock out the "dust" that's accumulated in our bodies from winter's confinement and get ourselves ready for spring's many outdoor activities. If you would like an all-over "cleaning" session in April, just mention that you'd like your Spring Cleaning when you arrive for your appointment (or put it in your notes when you schedule online) and receive $10 off a 60-minute session or $15 off a 90-minute session.

Spring cleaning is a full-body massage to address the entire body and allow us to find out whether any areas need further attention. In our typical sessions, many of you focus on your primary areas of concern (e.g., back & neck) and give less attention to other areas (e.g., legs). A spring cleaning will help us to re-direct our focus in the future, if needed, because we'll check on those other areas to make sure they're up to the challenge of spring and summer activities.

Get Outside and Exercise!!

Before your spring cleaning is done, get outside and do something fun! I know most of you already have a regular exercise program, but I'll bet many of you are like me and wish we did more. So I thought I'd take a moment to encourage you to re-commit to more and varied forms of exercise. The nicer weather is a great excuse to take a break from indoor chores and get outside with our bikes, rollerblades or running shoes. Even a brisk walk is so much better for us than sitting indoors. Hope to see you outside!
